US Vice President JD Vance meets Pakistani leaders during diplomatic talks in Switzerland.
United States Vice President JD Vance said he hoped negotiators would achieve further progress in talks with Iran and praised Pakistan’s leadership for its role in supporting diplomacy.
Speaking in Switzerland alongside leaders from Pakistan and Qatar, Vance commended Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for their involvement in mediation efforts.
He also described Field Marshal Munir as an effective military commander.
Vance remarked that he had remained in regular contact with Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff during the nearly four-month conflict.
According to him, Pakistan consistently pushed diplomatic efforts aimed at promoting regional stability.

US Praises Pakistan’s Diplomatic Engagement
Vance said Pakistan’s contribution had gained international recognition.
Moreover, he expressed hope that current diplomatic momentum could lead to broader cooperation in the future.
He also stressed that Washington wanted Iran to support peace efforts and said stability in the Middle East remained a major priority.
At the same time, Vance raised concern over developments in Lebanon.
He said President Donald Trump continued efforts to lower tensions while military activity persisted in the region.
Referring to Iran, Vance described the country as a source of regional instability and said constructive discussions remained necessary.
Talks Aim to Build Momentum

Vance acknowledged that technical negotiations may not resolve every disagreement.
However, he said the process creates an opportunity for both sides to engage directly.
He added that negotiations allow teams to sit together in an unprecedented format.
In addition, Vance said ceasefires often face early difficulties but expressed confidence in continued progress.
According to him, recent developments showed signs that the Lebanon ceasefire could still hold.
Pakistan and Qatar Receive Recognition
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the negotiations became possible because of diplomatic efforts and leadership from the United States.
He described the talks as an important opportunity for international peace.
Furthermore, the prime minister credited Field Marshal Munir for playing a significant role in advancing discussions.
Shehbaz also said countries should work together to strengthen global unity.
Meanwhile, Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani praised Pakistan’s leadership and acknowledged its diplomatic contribution.
Delegations Hold Meetings in Switzerland
Ahead of formal technical discussions, delegations from the United States and Iran separately met Pakistani mediators in Switzerland.
The US side included Vice President JD Vance and envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
They held talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz and Field Marshal Munir.
Later, the Iranian delegation, led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, also met Pakistani officials.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi joined Pakistan’s delegation during the discussions.
The meetings took place ahead of expected technical negotiations between Washington and Tehran.
