According to a spokesperson for the Karachi Commissioner’s Office, action is being taken against unauthorised livestock markets operating on roadsides and in public spaces as part of efforts to maintain order and improve city management during the festive season.
Officials said illegal cattle markets were creating significant challenges for sanitation systems and causing traffic congestion in several areas of the city. In response, authorities have imposed a ban on the sale and purchase of sacrificial animals on major roads and highways.
Deputy commissioners have submitted reports to Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi regarding the increasing number of unauthorised cattle markets operating across the city.
The commissioner stated that illegal markets were disrupting cleanliness arrangements and creating difficulties for commuters due to increased traffic pressure. He added that the administration remains committed to ensuring smooth traffic flow, maintaining sanitation standards, and preserving public order ahead of Eidul Azha.
Authorities urged citizens to use officially designated cattle markets and warned that strict action against violators would continue.
