The incident took place late Saturday night while Tarar was travelling with his family in Lahore. Police identified the arrested suspect as Osama and recovered the alleged weapon and vehicle used in the incident.

Authorities registered a case against the suspect and started legal proceedings. Investigators traced him through Safe City surveillance footage and other modern tracking methods.

Tarar said another vehicle overtook his car during the incident. He added that a person inside the vehicle displayed a pistol and fired shots into the air.

The federal minister said his staff members followed the vehicle, recorded its registration number and immediately informed police officials.

Tarar clarified that he was not the target of the incident and said the suspect did not know that a federal minister was travelling in the vehicle. He confirmed that he and his family remained safe.

Lahore Police said the early findings point towards aerial firing rather than an attempt to target the minister. However, officials said the investigation is still underway to determine the complete facts of the case.
