Islamabad, May 2, 2026 — Asif Ali Zardari returned to Pakistan on Friday after completing a five-day official visit to China aimed at strengthening bilateral economic cooperation.

The president departed from Sanya, where he was seen off by senior Chinese officials, including Wang Qiang, along with Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi and China’s Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong.
During the visit, Zardari held meetings in Hunan and Hainan, focusing on expanding cooperation in industrial development, agriculture, and the maritime economy.
A key focus remained on advancing projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC 2.0), with an emphasis on boosting domestic industry and promoting the blue economy.
In Changsha, three memoranda of understanding (MoUs) were signed between Pakistani and Chinese institutions, covering areas such as seawater desalination, agricultural technology, and the tea sector. Additional agreements were signed in Sanya, including cooperation in machinery, animal vaccines, and medical technology.
The visit underscores ongoing efforts by both countries to deepen their strategic partnership and expand economic collaboration across multiple sectors.
